The General Assembly is the Department’s chief governing body. Its members consist of Faculty Staff, a representative of the Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP) and elected representatives of the student body.

Academic and administrative duties are assigned to Committees, which are renewed yearly. The Committees are comprised by Faculty and administrative staff.

The Committee for Internal Assessment (OMEA) is responsible for monitoring academic quality procedures within the Department. The Committee, which is comprised by Faculty Staff, is renewed yearly.

In December 2018 the Department’s Undergraduate Programme was reviewed by a Panel of experts appointed by the Greek Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency (ADIP). The Undergraduate Programme of the Department of Philology is the first in the University of Patras and the first Philology Undergraduate Programme  in Greece to have gained accreditation with full compliance to the criteria set by ADIP for the period 18/1/2019 to 17/1/2023.
