Four postgraduate programmes. One Department with a contemporary vision, an international outlook, and multiple academic pathways.

The Department of Philology at the University of Patras is firmly committed to postgraduate education and currently offers four postgraduate programmes, providing a diverse and intellectually stimulating environment for those seeking advanced study in language, literature, and culture.

Building upon a long-established tradition of philological scholarship while responding to emerging academic, educational, and cultural challenges, the Department’s postgraduate programmes combine high-level academic training with interdisciplinarity, international engagement, institutional collaboration, and the development of advanced research and professional skills.

Prospective students may choose from four distinct yet creatively interconnected fields of study:

Studies in Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Literature, a programme leading to the award of a Master’s degree in one of three specialisations—Classical Studies, Byzantine Philology, or Modern Greek Philology—and offering focused, advanced training in the literature and culture of the respective field.
